SEPARATED BY THE SPIRIT
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts (2 Corinthians 1:22).
1 Corinthians 6:11 reveals something extraordinary about the new creation; it says, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” I want you to notice the underlined word “sanctified”: it means you’ve been separated or set apart by the Spirit.You’ve been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. That seal is a spiritual mark that identifies you as God’s own possession. In the realm of the spirit, you carry a divine signature. This Holy Spirit is also described as the earnest (the down payment or deposit) of our inheritance.
